Many of you may not know me, but I hang out on the Penny Pinching Moms board and BL. I have a prayer request.
My brother's best friend since elementary school, Jim, has a daughter named Emma who is in the hospital with a brain injury. She defied instructions and rode a 4-wheeler without a helmet and rolled it. They expect things to turn out all right, but would appreciate any and all prayers for Emma's recovery. She's about 10-12 years old.
Thanks!

one week after the massive 7.0 earthquake and many aftershocks all over 5.0 they experienced an aftershock THIS MORNING of 6.0 on the Richter Scale
How much more can these people take?
PLEASE I ask for prayers for them ... it is even a lot worse than ANY of the pictures that are available online or any of the new reports that are available via CNN, BBC or any other news networks as the news crews are limited
What is happening right now is that the people are even turning on EACH OTHER out of pure desperation which in itself is devastating ... they are undereducated, underprivileged and right now with each second they lose more and more hope.
Thanks.

As most of you know, my dad has been battling bladder cancer for about 8 years. He was diagnosed 6 months before my mom lost her fight to stomach cancer.
Last week they found tumors in his lungs.

My best friend used to live next door to this woman and their teen daughters are best friends. She has only been missing since 2:30 yesterday. She was supposed to meet her husband at work and didnt show up. Then at home they found her car still in the driveway. But she was not there. He keys and cell phone and purse were still at home. She owned 3 coats and they were all still in her closet. She has not contacted the family at all. Strange that she left home without her purse, cell phone, keys, and car. She lives out in the country. Also she left without her coat on and its only like 30 degrees outside.
Pray that she is okay. Her 13 year old daughter is just freaking out with worry. I understand exactly what she is going through since I went through the same thing when I was 14. Hope they find her soon. I will update when I hear something.

My nephew is back in the hospital. He went in last night. My SIL thought he had the croup again, but this time it got really bad. His breathing was extremely difficult and she had to call 911. Nothing she did helped, even the EMS couldnt get it better. It took the ER dept over an hour to get his breathing to be somewhat normal and had to give him eprinephren. He isn't even 3 yrs old.
They said its definitely in his bronchial airways but are not sure fully what this is. He is very sick. And they ran further tests today to see if they did any damage to his airways and such with their efforts to get him breathing last night.
It was very scarey for everyone there. Add on that my brother is out of town on business and my niece was exposed to chicken pox at daycare.
Please think of my nephew and that they find a real reason to why he keeps having these issues. Thanks!

My friend had her son yesterday. Joseph Ralph (they're going to call him JR) was born 8/10/08 at 1:41 PM, 7 lbs 10 oz , 22 inches long. He was about 3 weeks early. She has a 4 year old daughter who was born via c-section. With her son she wanted to try VBAC, but it didn't work out because she wasn't progressing. As it turns out they are lucky they did the c-section when they did because, in the dr's words, "there was barely any uterine wall left". Basically, she almost ruptured. On top of that, JR is in intensive care because he is breathing too quickly, has fluid in his lungs and a slight case of pneumonia. Melissa (my friend) only got to hold him last night after her was born. Now, like I said, he is in intensive care with monitors and tubes. Melissa said the nurses & doctors are optimistic. Please, I ask that you say a little prayer that he pulls through this and Melissa does not have to leave the hospital without her child.
Thanks everyone and I'll keep you updated.

My mom and her husband (my step-dad) were in a serious accident yesterday afternoon. I just found out this evening. He fell asleep at the wheel and ran into a semi on a highway, at highway speeds. He is in his 70's and not in good health. They had to pry/cut him out of the car. He is apparently on a ventilator and will have surgury in a few days, when his oxygen levels get up. He was severely injured, apparently he has one limb that is okay, the rest are injured. He has bruised lungs from the airbags. I don't know all of the details, but the car is totalled. They had the accident in Iowa, they are from Michigan. With limited financial resources, it will be difficult for my mom. My mom is okay, she hurt her nose a little and that is it. She has some granola bars to sustain herself with while she stays at the hospital until he gets somewhat better, which will be at least several weeks. That isn't quite enough though, now is it. My sister and I are planning on finding the address and a way to send her some money and things. Anyway, please send some thoughts and prayers if you could. Thanks. I am hoping that everything will be okay, but I understand that he is older and sometimes things just happen, old or not, and that is just the way life goes. He is a really nice, good man.

I found out today that she is in Italy and her 14 year old daughter was hit by a car yesterday. She had emergency surgery on her brain and is in a medically induced coma. Thoughts and prayers please! She is the same midwife I had last time, so I know her pretty well and feel for her.

My 2 yr old nephew is in the ER right now and is pretty sick.
He has been complaining about his legs hurting for awhile and then over the weekend it was his neck too. And he continued to feel worse as the weekend went on. Today he took a 4.5 hr nap, and had to be woken up by his mom and her mom. He was super groggy and asked to be taken to the doctor.
His white blood cell count is high, they just did a chest x-ray and his heart is inflamed.
He just had surgery in March to have his adnoids and tonsils removed, along with tubes inserted into his ears because he was non-stop sick from those almost since birth. And he has activity induced asthma along with major allergies.
Please, please think of him and my SIL that all is ok and this is something easily treatable.
My poor brother is on a plane on his way back from a business trip, unaware of these test results and has a sinus and ear infection with a fever himself.

Terrell honors fallen hero
09:26 PM CDT on Thursday, June 12, 2008
By JEFF BRADY / WFAA-TV
TERRELL - The patriotic flags flew early in downtown Terrell Thursday to honor a fallen son who had walked the sidewalks only weeks ago.
Jonathon Emard died in Iraq about a week ago.
"We were all telling him we were going to miss him, but we looked forward to seeing him when he got back, and we never expected this," said Shirley Scarborough.
A somber, quiet crowd gathered, lining Moore Street to salute and say goodbye.
"It matters not what your political affiliation is, or how you feel about this war. One of our own has been lost in battle," said Wayne Babovic of the Chamber of Commerce.
The procession began with a police escort of flashing lights, then the motorcycles with more flags waving.
All for Jonathon Emard - or "JD.
"
"You never would have expected that this was the one that God was going to call home so early," said Janis Blair from Wells Fargo Bank.
"We appreciate his service, going out and fighting, so that we can have the freedom that we enjoy here in America," said Joe Kelley from the Terrell Eagle Riders.
JD was born in the nearby town of Poetry, where he played football and soccer and served in Scout Troop 390.
The same troop Michael Mynxx is in now.
"I really felt that I should be here, and I also wanted to come," he said.
Hundreds lined up to honor the young soldier on his final trip downtown.
"We watched these kids grow up, and it's hard," said Scarborough.
It's especially hard in Terrell.
Since the war in Iraq began, they've stood this silent vigil twice before.

This is the message I got....
This is Donise's 3 yr old niece
we are in the PICU at Shands hospital
I wanted to call you but dont have your number with me.
She is really reall sick. They were playing at the lake yesterday and right before they were ready to go Natalie was sitting at the edge of the lake Candy turned her back for a minute and next thing Natalie was gone. Candy rushed over and took her limp body at of the water, an EMT was on site and they did CPR and flew her here ( about 45mins away )
Last night they pretty much told us that she was brain dead
oh man this is very scary. She was not responsive at all
finally about 11:00 last night they let us in to see her and she stared responding to us. what a mircale.
She is responding more today but still sleeping ( not opening her eyes )
they have her on a breathing tube but said she can breathe on her own but she is having issues with her lungs and they dont want her to do all the work on her own.
They got the results back from the Cat Scan and they said they dont see any major damage to her brain. OH GOD IS WATCHING OVER HER.
they really wont say much but right now we are holding onto lots of hope.
she will be 3 of Friday poor baby girl.

My friend here in Town is pregnant with twins and this is what she posted on myspace
Heres what i wrote in an email Wednesday when we found out the horrible news.
Baby A- Carter
Baby B- Dakota
bad news. Im so depressed. The twins have developed twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Which is really bad when it starts this early. Baby B was measuring 14 weeks and Baby A was measuring 17 weeks. Baby B is what is called stuck baby. The membrane around the baby is so close to the baby due to very low to almost no fluid in his sac that he is stuck up against the wall, while Baby A has lots of fluid and is swimming around everywhere. They told me the chances of them surviving was very slim. I had some choices to make. They said if i do nothing that there is a good chance that i will miscarry. I could do an ammnio and poke a hole in the smaller babies sac to help let more fluid in and then drain some off of the bigger one. I chose the ammnio. They actually had to poke me twice in two different places. well after they tore the little ones sac they saw a little improvement. The sac had begun to fill up a little bit with more fluid. But the dr also said that if this works that it will only be temporary. They are too little to survive outside the womb. He said they might make it to 24 weeks, they may not. The ammnio can also make me miscarry or go into labor. If Baby B dies then the process would be switched and Baby A would then become like Baby B is now. Since Baby B wouldnt be able to give any back. So he would then just receive all the nutrients and Baby A would be in the same position as Baby B is now. He said there is a good chance that we will lose either one or both of them. I go back in the morning for another ultrasound.
I cried when i saw the look on the ultrasound techs face as she was doing the u/s. i knew something was wrong. I could see that something was wrong on the u/s too. Then i cried when my boyfriend(Joey) and i were in the room waiting on the dr to come in. Then when the dr was explaining the choices i cried again. Then he did the ammnio. Im still so upset. I feel in my heart that i will lose both. Just like this morning when i felt i was going to get bad news b4 i even got to the dr.
any time anyone mentions whats wrong i break down in tears. I dont know what to do. none of the choices are going to give them a good fighting chance. I was told to come home and stay off my feet. Since it was like it had 2 ammnios done.
Heres the news i got today.
-Thursday
We had better news today. Since they popped the sac that the smaller one was in so he could get more fluid, it worked. Yesterday there was less than 1 cm of measurable fluid in his sac. Today there is over 5 cm. Which is very good, average range is from 2cm to 8cm. The dr is very encouraged he said. He thinks that is a great improvement. But still anything can happen. They are just going to watch me very closely from now on. I go back on Monday to check them again. We are just going to take it from here. If they do fine from here then we will try and go as far as we can into the pregnancy as long as the babies are ok. But im not getting my hopes up. The dr said that it is good that i am being optimistic about it, cuz anything can happen. I feel a lot better today but still optimistic.
ALL prayers are helpful. And i appreciate all that you girls do for me. Im just trying to take it one day at a time and hang in there.

She was rushed to the E.R. but they couldn't find anything wrong except for a lot of scratches and bruises! Thank God!! She is very very sore though and is taking it kinda hard!! b/c also, she doesn't have a car now! She is only 16 and had just gotten her license like 3 months ago!! So could you please just keep her in your prayers! Thanks so much!

Today's Scripture
“Jesus said to them, ‘Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.’ He could not do any miracles there…And he was amazed at their lack of faith” (Mark 6:4-6)
Today's Word
Did you know that honor and faith work together? When Jesus walked the earth, the people in His own hometown couldn’t believe that He was the Son of God because they were too familiar with Him. They didn’t honor Him, which affected their ability to have faith in Him. When you honor the Lord, when you respect and make room for Him in your life by following the Word of God, it impacts your faith in Him. Part of honoring the Lord is honoring the people He’s placed in your life. God works through people, and the Bible says that the way you treat others is the way you treat Him. Choose to honor people and make room for the Lord to work in your life, today. Look for the greatness in the people around you: your spouse, your children, your friends and family. Treat others with respect, knowing that God is building His character in you. As you choose honor, you open the door for faith to grow. You’ll see God’s hand working in your life, and you will see His hand of blessing on everything you do!
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, today I choose to honor You by honoring the people You have placed in my life. Show me how to love others the way You love me so that faith will grow stronger in my heart. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Well since Ive known him he's had problems with his breathing but it wasnt until a recent DR's appiontment that the dr listened to his breathing and said he didnt like what he heard and wanted some tests done. The did an ultrasound of his chest and then did some other tests. One of his lungs was working at about 50% and after a breathing treatment is went to about 59% and the other was working about 56% and after a treatment went to about 75%, the DR said both of those were bad. He was told last week that he has asthma, some kind of bronchial restriction, and emphazema (sp?) on top of that he was told the week before that he has COPD. They gave him an inhaler and they're working on getting him something else where he'll have to do breathing treatments twice a day. He was a smoker for many years but has also stopped smoking for quite a while. He hasnt been told of anything else they'll be doing, I dont really know that there is anything more they can do. It scares me to death because Mahayla is so attached to him, and she cries any time he brings her home and leaves. She loves him so much, we all do. He has to be the most giving person I've ever met. He married me and DH and has always been there for us, along with MIL. I guess I just needed to get it off of my chest, I dont like talking to DH about it because I know he doesnt want to think about it. Anyways please send your prayers his way.
